Rublev Colours Luberon Raw Sienna Light is a premium natural earth pigment from the ochre country of Gargas and Rustrel in the Luberon Massif, Provence (France). Compared to standard raw sienna, this “Light” grade is cooler and lighter, with a distinctive greenish-brown undertone that’s difficult to replicate by mixing.
As a natural iron oxide hydroxide (goethite) pigment (PY43), it’s prized for its excellent transparency, subtle earth warmth, and dependable performance across traditional techniques—ideal for oil painting, watercolour, fresco, tempera, and grounds. Use it to build luminous glazes, soften yellows, create natural skin shadows, or mix nuanced landscape neutrals.
