Rublev Colours Italian Green Raw Umber is a finely ground natural earth pigment from the Verona region of Italy. This traditional umber has a distinctive greenish-brown masstone with pronounced green undertones, making it especially useful for shadow structure, muted landscapes, and natural neutral mixes where you want depth without overpowering chroma.
Like other true umbers, it is coloured by iron and manganese oxides and can be used across all major mediums, including oil, tempera, watercolour, acrylic, and fresco. Italian Green Raw Umber is valued for its excellent tinting strength and good covering power, and it mixes cleanly with other pigments to create complex greys, olive greens, and natural browns. It is also a reliable studio workhorse for underpainting and tonal mapping, particularly when you want cooler, greener shadows than standard raw umber.
