Description

Rublev Colours Dry Pigments - Series 3 Chromium Rutile Yellow is a high-performance, complex inorganic pigment prized for its rich yellow-orange hue, strong opacity, and exceptional permanence. Known as Pigment Brown 24 (PBr 24 / C.I. 77310), this pigment is often called Chrome Buff or Chromium Titanium Yellow and is valued by artists for its earthy, golden warmth that sits beautifully between yellow, ochre, and orange.

Chromium Rutile Yellow is made by high-temperature calcination that forms a stable rutile crystal lattice incorporating chromium, antimony, and titanium oxides. The result is a chemically inert, non-migratory, non-bleeding pigment with excellent resistance to UV, weathering, and heat. In paint making it disperses reliably and delivers consistent colour across oil, acrylic, and water-based systems, making it ideal for artists who want a durable, opaque yellow-orange for landscapes, underpainting, architectural tones, and warm neutral mixes.

Because it offers excellent stability and is free from heavy metals commonly associated with traditional bright yellows (such as lead and cadmium), Chromium Rutile Yellow is also widely used in coatings, plastics, ceramics, and printing inks. It is especially useful when you want a yellow-orange that stays strong outdoors, on murals, or on objects exposed to light and weather.
