Rublev Colours Orange Molybdate is a brilliant, high impact orange pigment made from a co-precipitated blend of lead chromate and lead molybdate, often with lead sulfate. Classified as Pigment Red 104 (PR104), this pigment is prized for its intense orange colour, excellent hiding power, and strong tinting strength. It has a long history in industrial coatings, plastics, and printing inks, and it saw limited use in 20th century artists’ materials due to its colour brilliance.
This Rublev grade is a silicate coated formulation selected for improved durability and very strong resistance to light and weathering compared to unstabilised grades. In oil paint it produces an opaque, powerful orange with excellent tinting strength. In water based systems it behaves as an opaque, highly staining reddish orange. It is an excellent choice for professional paint makers who require maximum colour strength and coverage from a true molybdate orange pigment.
Important notice: This pigment contains lead and chromium. In some regions, sale may be restricted to professional users, resellers, or research institutions and may require compliance documentation.
Safety note: Handle with care. Avoid creating airborne dust, avoid ingestion and skin contact, and keep away from children. Use gloves, eye protection, and a suitable dust mask or respirator when working with dry pigment.
