Meet Rublev Colours Oleogel Oil Painting Medium (16 fl oz / 473 ml) — a solvent-free gel medium designed to extend oil colour, increase transparency for glazing, and improve flow without making paint watery or runny. Oleogel is a clear, pale amber gel made from linseed oil + pyrogenic silica, giving your paint a beautifully controllable thixotropic “body” (it moves with the brush, then holds its shape).
Unlike many modern mediums, Oleogel contains no added driers and is ideal for building brush-responsive layers, soft transitions, and luminous glazes—while keeping your paint feeling like paint. It’s especially useful when you want more transparency in mixes (including whites) without sacrificing structure, and it can also be combined with pigments/extenders to create sculptural impasto that resists sinking-in.

How to use

On your palette, mix a small amount of Oleogel into your oil paint (best with a palette knife for a smooth blend).

Add gradually until you reach the handling you want.

For best results, keep Oleogel to ~25% or less by volume of your paint mixture.

Apply in controlled layers (thin applications are best for clean drying and surface control).
