Description

Rublev Colours Sun-Bleached Linseed Oil is a premium artist-grade linseed oil medium made by exposing raw, cold-pressed linseed oil to sunlight in shallow tanks under clear glass for more than one month. This traditional sun-bleaching process lightens the oil significantly while only slightly thickening it—giving you a cleaner, paler linseed oil that behaves beautifully in oil painting.

With a colour comparable to walnut oil (or lighter), Sun-Bleached Linseed Oil is an excellent choice when you want to work with pale colours, delicate tints, and whites without introducing heavy yellowing. It’s also fast drying for a linseed-based medium and contains no driers or additives, making it ideal for artists who want maximum control over their paint film.

Why artists love it

  • Paler, lighter oil—better suited to whites and light mixtures

  • Fast drying and dependable as a painting medium

  • No driers, no additives—traditional, clean formulation

  • Great for glazing, brushwork, and medium making

  • Useful as a component in homemade oil mediums

How to use

Use straight as a painting medium (sparingly), or add to your own custom medium recipes. If you’re making an oil painting medium that needs dilution, use a compatible solvent such as turpentine, spike oil, or mineral spirits.

Source: Linseed oil from flax seed (Linum usitatissimum).
Size: 16 fl oz (473 ml) or 8 fl oz (236ml)

Storage & studio safety

Store tightly closed in a cool, dry place. As with all drying oils, oil-soaked rags/paper towels can self-heat and combust—seal used rags in an airtight metal container (or water-dampen) before disposal.
